VIA Rail Canada Inc., leader in passenger transportation inCanada, is currently seeking candidates to work on board its trains as SENIOR SERVICE ATTENDANT. Based inWinnipeg, you will be assigned to the following routes: Winnipeg-Toronto, Winnipeg-Vancouver and Winnipeg-Churchill.
ROLE
As Senior Service Attendant, you will provide stellar customer-service while ensuring the comfort and safety of our passengers. In addition, you will be responsible for various customer-related functions, such as: greeting passengers, providing assistance throughout the trip (e.g. boarding, baggage, etc.), serving meals and beverages, selling snacks and refreshments and ensuring the comfort of our passengers in the sleeping-cars. You will also ensure the tidiness and cleanliness of the bedrooms and work areas.
SCHEDULE
Schedules are variable and on call, every day of the week including week-ends and holidays. No number of hours/week is guaranteed. These positions are permanent with probable lay-offs at the beginning of October.
TRAINING
You must be available for a five-week training session paid at $10.25 per hour. This training session will begin May 21 and must be successfully completed to obtain a position.
SALARY
Training period: $10.25/hour (5 weeks)
Senior Service Attendant Rate: $19.26/hour
Requirements:
You must be bilingual (French and English), enjoy working within a team and with the public and be available to be away from home for extended periods of time (5 to 6 days at a time). You possess a High School Diploma, a minimum of one year of customer service experience and are able to lift weights up to23 Kg. Training and/or experience in the hospitality and/or tourism industries are an asset.
