Transportation Shift Supervisor
The Koch Fertilizer Canada, ULC Plant inBrandon,Manitobamanufactures Ammonia, Urea, Nitric Acid, Ammonium Nitrate, UAN and other fertilizer products. The Transportation Shift Supervisor is responsible for working with the Brandon Commercial, Logistics, and Operations Teams in safe and compliant loading, unloading, and shipment of all fertilizer products.
Reports to: Reliability Centre Supervisor, Transportation
Your role will include:
- Responsible for all aspects of management of a crew of approximately 10 to 16 hourly employees including selection, retention, and performance assessment and management
- Provide leadership and oversight of transportation and fertigation efforts to meet our vision of safety, environmental stewardship and operational excellence
- Responsible for employee safety, integrity of equipment, and efficient operation of the transportation and fertigation areas
- Interact with Plant Leadership and the Human Resources team as appropriate
The qualifications you have include:
- At least two (2) years of supervisory experience in transportation or production activities, preferrably in a unionized manufacturing environment
- Related post-secondary certificate or diploma from an accredited institution or equivelent work experience; a 4th Class Power Engineering certificate is considered an asset
- Demonstrated experience working within a fertilizer manufacturing facility, transportation systems, logistics or terminal
- Ability to obtain Transportation of Dangerous Goods certification
- Capable of passing a pulmonary breathing test, wearing a gas mask-type respirator and full Level A personal protective equipment
- Proven leadership, communication and organizational abilities
- Working knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Office
- Emergency Response, First Aid and Industrial Fire Fighting experience are considered asset
The work environment you’ll be entering requires and includes:
- Rotating 12 hour shift schedule (days/nights) plus day shifts as required
- Available to respond on a 24/7 call-in basis as required
- Occasional work in high, precarious places, outside work in all weather conditions
- Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals with appropriate PPE
- Moderate noise level, occasional climbing, reaching, lifting
